My Springtime Obsession – Off The Shoulder Tops

Well, it’s official. I’m obsessed with off the shoulder tops! Expect to see a lot of them featured on the blog this spring and summer. I just can’t enough..I wore these two this weekend!

This oversized gingham, button-down is from Francesca’s. I love that it’s a loose fit and the bows on the sleeves are a cute little touch.

(Sunnies are from Charming Charlie.)

I found this blue and white striped top at Marshall’s, so check your local store for stock. I also linked some similar tops below.

Polka Dots + Pink Sunnies

It may be February (and a little chilly), but I’m feeling those springtime vibes this weekend! The Texas weather can’t seem to make up it’s mind, but as long as it doesn’t drop down below 50 degrees, I won’t complain!

I absolutely love this look for transitioning from winter to spring. It’s easy, stylish and comfortable for casual weekend plans.

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

Off The Shoulder Crochet Ruffle Top + Ripped Jeans

Oh you know, just having a leisurely Sunday in the forest.. Just kidding! As I’m typing this post, I’m lounging on my sofa with a dog on either side and a mimosa in hand – Definitely my kinda Sunday!

However, I wanted to share this look before the weather cools down because I am OBSESSED with this top by Socialite. I’ve basically been living in it all summer long and since I made my purchase a few months ago, they’ve added a few new colors!  I plan to buy it in Auburn for sure, and possibly Olive, though I don’t want to get too carried away since it will soon be ‘sweater weather’.

These ripped jeans by Topshop are another fave in my wardrobe. They are stretchy, soft and light-weight, which has made them perfect for the summer heat, but also great for transitioning into fall.  I love that this pair just has a subtle rip at the knee, but they also come in ‘super ripped’ – which are super cute as well.

And because I’m craving cooler temps and all things Fall, I paired this outfit with my favorite burgundy wedge booties from TOMS. Unfortunately, they don’t make this style anymore, but they do have some others that are equally as stylish. These are currently on my wish list.

I hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday and a great week ahead!

A Sunday Well Spent…

Happy Sunday!  After a very long week, I was really looking forward to just kicking back and relaxing this weekend.  Yesterday, I caught a show – ‘Bullets Over Broadway‘ – a musical written by Woody Allen – at The Music Hall at Fair Park.  It was really funny and full of great music, I’m a sucker for Broadway shows!  Today, I was happy just to meet up with a good friend for an extended lunch and some drinks.  It was great to relax and catch up.  After all, they do say  – “A Sunday well spent brings a week of content”.

Sad to kiss the weekend goodbye, but ready for a productive week ahead!

A few weeks ago, two of my very best friends and I went on our first ever girls trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.  Needless to say, we had an absolute blast!  It was the perfect little getaway filled with laughter, relaxation, and an abundance of delicious food and drinks.

mexico - swim out room - playa del carmen

We stayed at Platinum Princess Yucatan – Adults Only Resort and opted for the swim-out suite.  This was by-far the best decision we made for this entire trip.  It was a stunning view and we spent a good majority of our time there in our pool.  It was so perfect because we had our own pool space, we could easily access our room when needed and they had pool side drink service so we didn’t even have to go to the bar.  The water was absolutely perfect and on our last day, we had a really hard time saying goodbye to this pool.  I can’t tell you how much we loved this amenity.

monogram hat - mexico

Brittanie got us these super cute monogramed hats for the trip that helped shade us from the strong sun.  I must say, it also looked fabulous with my swim suit.

mexico vacation - coati - chic on sunday

This adorable little guy came by to see us and tested out the waters!  These Coatis roam all around the resort.  We saw several of them while we were there.

mexico vacation - chic on sunday - beach

Of course we also spent plenty of time at the beach.  We were in chill mode so we just laid out and enjoyed the water, but the resort had plenty of beach activities for those that wanted to partake.  {We couldn’t help but have a few mini photo shoots on the beach – Misty is a fab photog!}

mexico vacation - martini

We found our favorite bar (and bartender) on day two.  Katy made the best espresso martinis, mojitos and margaritas.  We paid her more than a few visits each day – LOL!  I will definitely be recreating this espresso martini in the near future!

mexico vacation - cups

Another fantastic decision was to bring these cups with us.  A friend of mine knew we were going on this trip and had been to an all-inclusive resort before, so she gifted these to us with the advice of taking them with.  It was so sweet of her and also a genius idea!  We filled them up with water several times the first day because we were feeling quite dehydrated, then on day two, we had Katy fill them up with her delicious mojitos and headed to the beach.  This was so great because we didn’t have to make as many trips to the bar.  (The cups they use at the resort are teeny-tiny!)

Aubrey - Chic on Sunday - Dallas Blog - About 3

I pretty much lived in hats and this swim cover-up the entire trip.  Resort life is the absolute best!  I can’t wait to go back with the hubs next year and hope to make our girls trip an annual tradition.
